Leahy's self-titled debut album took North America by storm. After a 150-city tour with Shania Twain, an appearance on her TV special in 1999, and the highly successful PBS pledge show Leahy Live, these nine brothers and sisters introduced their irresistible music to huge, new audiences.  LAKEFIELD, their first album in three years, highlights Leahy's Celtic/folk instrumentals and country/pop inspired vocals that have made them one of the hottest Canadian imports!

The Leahy's were raised on a farm near Lakefield, Ontario, Canada, where their roots run deep.  Ancestor Michael Leahy arrived there in 1825 from Ireland and brought with him a rich musical tradition that has passed down through the generations.  Each of the Leahy children learned to play the fiddle from their father, while their mother - who was raised in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia - taught them to sing, dance, and play the piano.  The family quickly gained popularity as they traveled across Canada, the U.S., and Europe, playing and developing their own brand of "Leahy" music.

Eleven of the new songs are original compositions and, in addition to writing the material, Leahy arranged and produced the entire CD.  "Recording this album has been a challenging but fulfilling experience," say pianist Erin. "We feel that is reflects both the origins and evolution of our music which includes vocals, instrumentals, dancing, and a passion to play.  We can't wait to share it with our audience."
