Cuba L.A. entwines their unique tropical sensibility with favorite melodies of the season - exotic percussion, enticing Afro-Cuban rhythms, and a wild melting pot of diverse instrumentation. You've never heard holiday music quite like this before! Traditional carols are infused with the rhythms and musical heritage of Cuba. Chachachá, rumba, and comparsa add a special vibrance and energy to the melodies that is undeniably tropical and danceable. Led by Danilo Lozano, Cuba L.A. is a dream team of Cuban musicians living in the United States, including Orestes Vilato, Luis Conte, Harry Kim and others. Lozano, a founding member of the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, has performed with such luminaries as Linda Ronstadt, Babtunde Olatunji, and Whitney Houston. Lozano is a committed educator and teaches at Whittier College in California. Christmas in Cuba Christmas festivities traditionally began on Christmas Eve, La Nochebuena. Cubans gathered with family and friends for a feast of roast pig, rice and beans, yuca and plantains, attending midnight mass afterwards. Christmas Day itself was set aside for visiting family and friends. Then, on Epiphany (January 6th), children eagerly waited for the Three Kings of the Magi to come and leave them presents and candies.
