Spencer Brewer’s ability to create heart-touching melodies, either for solo piano or for small ensembles, gives his music its distinctive feel. Originally released in 1984, SHADOW DANCER features Brewer’s evocative aural landscapes composed for piano, lyricon, harmonica, and sax. “The music is sometimes romantic and peaceful, and at other times, it’s full of life and vigor,” he mentions. “But all of it flows from my heart.” As a further testament to his deeply-felt connection to his music , Brewer often dedicates his works as “gifts” to friends and family. The title selection from PORTRAITS was written for his father. Brewer formally presented it to him during a party to celebrate his father’s 60th birthday. NARADA CLASSICS presents two landmark contemporary instrumental recordings, SHADOW DANCER and PORTRAITS, now available on this special 2-CD set.
